WORKROOM 2024 Resident Artist Spotlight: IntuiTeens

 In The CAPE Blog, WORKROOM

In addition to the artists featured thus far, we are honored to host IntuiTeens at CAPE during WORKROOM! IntuiTeens is an initiative of Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art. It is a unique opportunity to meet teens from across the city, explore your creativity and celebrate the power of self-taught art.

IntuiTeens provides guidance and mentorship in community engagement, museum education, arts teaching and so much more! The program meets for five weeks this summer.

IntuiTeens:

  • Grow leadership skills through creating engagement opportunities for teens
  • Develop art-making skills and expand your creative practice
  • Collaborate with local teens, professional artists and community organizations
  • Gain hands-on experience in community arts teaching and nonprofit work
  • Explore Chicago art museums, galleries, artist studios and community spaces
  • Receive a stipend for the summer

During WORKROOM, IntuiTeens have gathered inspiration from presentations by resident artists Annamaria Castellucci Betsy Zacsek, Eseosa Edebiri, Fiorella Hilda Gomez Bermudez, and Jessica Mueller, whose art studios surround their meeting space.

All IntuiTeens help fulfill the Intuit museum’s mission to champion the diverse voices of self-taught art. Each IntuiTeen explores what engaging with outsider art means on their own terms.
