Heidi Kuharich is an accomplished dancer and educator of ballet, pointe, jazz, modern dance, and creative movement. Her early training first came under the guidance of MaryBeth Nosek and later Mary Moss O’Mara. While at Barat College, she studied under Rory Foster (American Ballet Theatre, author of ‘Ballet Pedagogy’), Eileen Cropley (Paul Taylor Dance Company), Lynn Colburn (Martha Graham Dance Company), and Julie Cartier (Human Rhythm Project). In recent years, she has focused her offerings on creative movement for novices and an adapted classical ballet technique for the unique needs of the figure skater.
Dance comes from within and is accessible to all; an opportunity for connection and communication. As someone who was in ballet class even before preschool, movement is how I interpret the world around me.
Increasingly I find myself drawing on a catalogue of technique and experience to help my students tap into their own body awareness and curiosity as a means to focus on their movements. All that being said, I am inspired by my students more than anything. For me, learning and teaching are about a relationship. I am a willing participant and grateful recipient of the impact my students have on me.
