Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education is seeking an individual or firm to provide part-time accounting services for our non-profit organization.  The accountant will be responsible for accurately applying the principles of accounting to mitigate risk to the organization by meeting deadlines for all functions assigned and by assuring the integrity of the general ledger.  In addition, the accountant should be an expert in Quickbooks Online so that CAPE can maximize the platform’s non-profit functionality.   The scheduled hours would be roughly one or two eight-hour days per month.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

-Reconcile all CAPE financial accounts within the first 10 days of the month, reviewing transactions for accuracy and validity 

  • Checking account: Monthly
  • Investment Accounts (2): Quarterly

-Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports

-Respond to inquiries regarding bookkeeping policies and procedures from the CAPE Finance and Administration Manager and other staff

-Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures

-Make recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures as needed

-Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

-Assist with audit preparation

-Assist in program budgets, grants, and financial analysis as needed 

-Work with the CAPE staff in responding to questions from the CAPE Board of Directors
