Bio:

Lesley Keller-Reed is a movement artist and videographer. They graduated with an Interdisciplinary BA from Columbia College investigating the connection between dance and theater. They are researching capturing universal human connections through personal truths and shared experiences by interweaving the mediums of written word and visual form. In 2016, Reed helped form Bittersweet Arts Company, an artistic collective incubating writing, with their peers from school. After graduating, Reed created MVMT LB, a space for movement artists to create in process for process’s sake. This is an ongoing project cultivating a space of exploration and discovery that is separate from project deadlines and works in tandem with an artist’s ongoing research. The inception of this project first occurred 2018-2020 at Outerspace Studios. Featured in Haven Chicago’s Spotlight Series and at dfbl8r Performance Art Gallery, Reed navigates the work they do as an inter-media artist, taking the audience through their process of creating dance movement film, live in a durational performance. Reed’s work has appeared at Links Hall, Elastic Arts, Project Bound’s 1Hour Project, and Scout and Birdie art magazine in Chicago, and at The Drama Bookshop in NYC.

Artist Statement:

Reed seeks to capture unique perspectives and translate them into visceral narratives. Reed uses compression, juxtaposition, and a synesthetic experience to define and compose their reality. They believe anyone can find their voice, and craft a unique view of the world around them.
