Chicago’s Year of Creative Youth

 In Events, News

Mayor Emanuel and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events have designated 2018 as the Year of Creative Youth – a citywide celebration of Chicago’s young artists and the mentors who inspire them. Presented by Allstate Insurance Company, the Year of Creative Youth will also feature young artists and their work at City of Chicago festivals, exhibitions and events throughout the year, including a CAPE exhibition at the Chicago Cultural Center’s Michigan Avenue Galleries!

We at CAPE know THOUSANDS of students who were #BornCreative, and as part of the 2018 Year of Creative Youth, we’ll be doing some special shoutouts to them using the hashtag #BornCreative. DCASE will be doing the same throughout the entire calendar year! Art, music and performances posted with the hashtag #BornCreative will be highlighted on social media and reviewed by DCASE for a chance to be featured at the upcoming Creative Youth Festival on September 22 in Millennium Park.

“The Year of Creative Youth provides an incredible opportunity to support the creativity and growth of artistic children across Chicago,” said Mayor Emanuel. “I am proud to work with youth arts organizations and educators to launch new opportunities that will inspire the next generation of artists.”
